Our family of 7 loves to adventure in the outdoors. We often visit national parks, beaches, or playgrounds on the weekends. This has been our routine for years.
However, we recently added a fifth child. Throwing a newborn in the mix with 4 other children has changed things up a bit. I’ve found myself worrying about exposing the newborn to too much sunlight.
- Super safe sun protection invented by a mom: SnoozeShade’s stroller sun shade and blackout cover for babies and toddlers blocks up to 99% of harmful UV rays. It acts as a protective shield from the sun, wind, light rain , ensuring your little one’s delicate eyes and skin are safeguarded during those sunny strolls (so much more effective than an umbrella for a stroller) and that your little one stays comfortable while observing the world from their stroller.
- One of the most awarded stroller accessories: This one-size-fits-all stroller sunshade, made from a soft, air-permeable stretchy mesh, is one of those baby vacation essentials you don’t know how you lived without. It’s designed to fit all single-width strollers including umbrella strollers, travel strollers and jogging strollers. Lightweight and compact, it comes with a free storage bag, making it a top pick for parents on the go.
- SnoozeShade sets the standard for safety: Move over traditional covers! Our lab-tested air-permeable mesh is more than just breathable; it allows air to circulate freely and SnoozeShade offers so much more than just a sun shield. It guards baby against the elements and is the only sun and sleep shade to be approved by the INPAA (Infant & Nursery Products Alliance of Australia)
- Installs in seconds for instant shade: Time is precious – especially with a baby. Universal fit means Snooze Shade Plus Extra can be attached swiftly using versatile stretchable straps and elasticated sides, ensuring it stays securely in place. Installation and removal are a breeze and no more adjusting the stroller umbrella depending on what direction you walk.

That’s when I met the SnoozeShade Twin Deluxe Sun and Sleep Shade. I honestly hadn’t ever thought about buying an additional cover for our stroller. I just assumed we were stuck with the regular canopies that came with our double jogger stroller.
Finding a product that promised to block the sun’s harmful UV rays, attached easily, and was of superior quality seemed too good to be true. I was concerned that a cover made by an outside company wouldn’t fit my stroller as snugly as I wanted.
So how did the SnoozeShade stroller cover hold up? I’ll give you all the details on the quality, price, and performance of this stroller cover. I put the SnoozeShade stroller cover to the ultimate test so you can decide if it’s right for you.
What We Love About the SnoozeShade Stroller Cover
I have to say, the SnoozeShade stroller cover exceeded my expectation in several areas. Here’s what I loved about this stroller cover:
Easy to Attach
I was skeptical about how easily the stroller cover would attach since it’s made for a variety of stroller models. The instructions tell you to attach the elastic straps around any bar or strap on your stroller. I wasn’t sure that I had bars or straps in the right places for the strap to loop through.
Much to my surprise, I was able to easily find places to attach the straps to. The elastic straps stretch a good distance and are durable enough to take the tugging. This was helpful when I had to stretch a long distance to reach an available bar.
Before attaching the SnoozeShade cover, I assumed the straps were made out of velcro. Velcro often wears down over time and doesn’t always stay put when tugged on. The SnoozeShade cover uses something different.
Each strap has two baby-safe snaps on it. These snaps are small but very secure. After putting them together, I wasn’t able to break the hold by pulling on the strap.
Blocks UV Rays
My main concern before using the SnoozeShade cover was that my baby daughter would get sunburned when napping in the stroller. When we go on long walks, keeping her entirely away from the sun’s harmful UV rays is next to impossible.
This cover blocked out more direct sunlight than I expected. It kept the stroller seats nice and dark and even blocked the sun from coming into the side panels of the stroller.
The company states that the air-permeable mesh screen blocks out 80% of UV rays. When you close the outer cover for snooze mode, you’ll get a whopping 97.5% of UV rays blocked and 94% of light. That’s an impressive amount of UV protection.
Storage Bag
When I was done using the SnoozeShade, I wanted somewhere to store it. Otherwise, it would have ended up laying somewhere in the garage among my husband’s tools and treasures. This is never the best storage place.
Thankfully, the SnoozeShade comes with a zippered storage bag. When we were finished with our walk, I folded the shade and placed it in the bag. The portable size makes fit easily into the back storage pockets of our stroller seats.
Hideaway Pocket
When you use the cover in shade mode, the outer cover would normally flop forward on the front of your stroller. Without a place to store it, it would likely get caught under the wheels.
The hideaway pocket solved that problem. When you remove the snooze mode cover, you can place it in the hideaway pocket and secure it with the baby-safe snaps. This keeps it clean and out of the way.
Mesh Screen
There are two modes with the SnoozeShade stroller cover. You can either use it in sleep mode or shade made.
Shade mode uses just the mesh screen. To attach the screen, you zip it up around the opening. The mesh screen is air-permeable, which means air passes through it easily and won’t cause your baby to overheat.
Snooze mode helps your baby sleep by blocking out the most light. To use snooze mode, you snap up the lightweight cover over the air-permeable mesh screen. The mesh screen underneath still allows air to flow into the stroller.
The snooze mode does make the inside of the stroller very dark. If you have one child asleep and another awake, you can close the top shade halfway so the other child can still see out through the mesh screen. My 2-year-old thought it was nice and cozy inside with the mesh screen up.
Stays Cool
Many pediatricians warn parents against covering strollers with blankets and other thick materials. These thick materials can cause overheating. The SnoozeShade is a cover that parents shouldn’t be concerned about.
Since the shade is made with breathable fabric, your baby will be safe from getting too hot under the cover. We went for several walks during the hottest part of the day and the inside of the stroller remained comfortable. Parents could also install a stroller fan to help maximize airflow.
Variety of Sizes
I wasn’t sure that SnoozeShade offered a model that would fit our wide stroller. After looking at the website, I was impressed with the variety of strollers their covers fit!
SnoozeShade offers several sizes, including covers for all-terrain strollers and bassinet strollers. Since the straps ensure a snug fit, you can tailor it to your needs.
What SnoozeShade Could Do Better
Overall, I was very impressed with the performance of the SnoozeShade stroller cover. There were just a couple of areas I thought could be better. Here are a few suggestions I think would improve the SnoozeShade Stroller Cover:
Larger Size
The SnoozeShade I have is made for a wide double stroller. While I did get it to fit perfectly, I had trouble at first figuring out where to attach it on the canopies. The shade is meant to sit on the front portion of the canopy, not over the entire thing.
A larger size would allow the SnoozeShade to stretch farther over the stroller canopies and make it easier to place on the stroller. Perhaps there’s a specific reason SnoozeShade went for that design. I just found it a bit tricky to pull the shade on while trying to keep the canopies in place.
Lower Price
For the product, I felt the price was a little high. I do think the cover does an excellent job. However, I’m not sure how many parents would be willing to spend that much on a stroller accessory.
How SnoozeShade Compares to Other Stroller Shades
Let’s take a look at how SnoozeShade compares to its competing brands:
Price
The price of the SnoozeShade covers does appear to be quite a bit higher than competitors on Amazon. However, to be fair to SnoozeShade, their products are unlike most others.
Many competitors don’t offer covers with UV protection or with dual modes as SnoozeShade does. It’s also very hard to find a stroller cover with UV protection for double strollers. There may be more competition in the future, but for now, SnoozeShade appears to be one of a kind.
Ratings
The ratings for SnoozeShade stroller covers speak for themselves. With almost a full 5 stars on all of their stroller covers, it’s safe to say parents are pleased. In fact, all of their products have extremely high ratings.
UV Protection
The UV protection of the SnoozeShade covers is impressive. Let’s take a look at how the UV protection compares to other brands:
Stroller Cover Brand | UV Rays Blocked |
SnoozeShade Stroller Cover | Up to 97.5% UV Rays |
TORIBIO Sun Shade | 95% UV Rays |
Liuliuby Stroller Sun Shade | 70% UV Rays |
Orzbow Stroller Sun Shade | 99% UV Rays |
IntiMom Stroller Shade | 97% UV Rays |
SnoozeShade: The Bottom Line
The SnoozeShade is an excellent purchase for those looking for a way to protect their baby from harmful UV rays. The UV protection is impressive and is a great supplement to the canopies most strollers have.
After testing out the SnoozeShade cover on several occasions, I was impressed with how cool it kept the interior of the stroller. If you’re concerned this might make your baby too warm, don’t be. SnoozeShade did a great job of designing their products with optimum airflow.
If you have multiple children, you’ll love how easy it is to split the shade opening so only one side is dark. Just be mindful of helping your older children climb in and out so they don’t trip or step on the shade.
The shade is easy to attach and fits snugly. I loved the pocket that kept the shade from getting caught under the stroller wheel. The included storage bag makes it easy to store away and keep clean.
SnoozeShade stands by their products. Their high reviews speak of the durability of the materials. The one-year warranty goes above and beyond to make sure every parent is satisfied with their purchase.
Though I don’t think we’ll use the SnoozeShade canopy daily, I do think we’ll use it at least several times a month. For families who spend a lot of time outdoors, I highly recommend it.
